Assistant Part-Time Tennis Coach

 

Position Overview

Support and deliver high‑quality tennis coaching across a range of programs, including Tennis Australia’s Hot Shots, private and group lessons, adult beginner group classes, cardio classes, and holiday camps. Work closely with the head coach to uphold a player-focused, holistic coaching philosophy in a fun, safe, and engaging environment for players of all ages and abilities. ECC is very dedicated to both player and coach development.

 

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Deliver Hot Shots junior programs (ages 3–12+)

• Where required, conduct private sessions, beginner teen classes and beginner adult group classes, adapting coaching approach to diverse skill levels.

• Deliver Holiday Camp sessions in a fun, safe and engaging manner.

• Implement structured lesson plans, adjusting content according to participant needs.

• Communicate with head coach regarding any player progression/regressions needs, providing feedback and fostering a holistic approach.

• Maintain court and coaching equipment, uphold safety and health standards (e.g., player safety and supervision).

• Communicate with the Head Coach on all matters related to your sessions.

• Supervise/Officiate Red Ball Rally and/or Weekly Match play sessions

• Assist in the running of JDS Competitions

• Attend staff meetings and contribute to program development and team cohesion.

• Ability to fill in for sessions as a backup if required

• Other duties as required

 

Qualifications & Requirements

• Tennis Australia Participation and/or Trainee qualifications highly regarded but not necessary.

• Valid Working With Children Check

• First Aid certification highly regarded

• Experience working with neurodiverse players – highly regarded but not necessary.

• Strong tennis background and experience in coaching juniors and adults.

• Fun, approachable, reliable, professional, and communicative.

• Own transport  

 

Hours & Compensation

• Casual or part‑time employment, with flexible schedules and hourly rates. Pay will depend on experience and responsibilities. 

• Availability after school hours during the week and Saturdays during the school term.  Holiday Camp schedules may provide variable hours to this schedule.

• Opportunities to expand hours through participation in holiday clinics, development squads, or program extensions.
